Reporter- Abigail Rodriguez

Hi my name is Abigail Rodriguez and I am your FFA Secretary. I have been showing cattle for two years and plan to continue for the rest of my high school career. I am a fun loving outgoing person if you ever need someone to talk to I would be the perfect person to come to. My passions are FFA, spending time with my family and friends, having movie nights, and swimming. My favorite color is purple and my favorite animals are polar bears. I am a good listener and give some pretty good advice. I also love to have fun and joke around, but serious when the time is needed.?

Treasurer- Lauren Pitts

Sentinel- Logan McCutchen

I will be a sophomore at Mercedes High School for 2014-2015. I have been in FFA for one year. I raised a market goat for the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show last year and was awarded 9th place in his class. I participated in the RGVLS Pig Scramble as well, and I received $125 for catching a greased pig. I also participated at the Area X Greenhand Camp in Mathis, Texas. This year, I am planning to raise a steer and compete in numerous shows. Some of my other interests include competing in various sports including football, basketball, baseball, and tennis. I am looking forward to representing the Mercedes FFA as its reporter. I want to show my fellow classmates how much fun and rewarding it is to be in FFA. One of my future goals is to be a Lonestar Farmer like my father and grandfather.

Chaplain-Raul Almanza

My name is Raul Almanza, Jr . I am currently a junior attending Mercedes high school. I have lived in the queen city of Mercedes my entire 17 years of life. In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering at my church by fulfilling basic needs such as helping altar servers and setting up for celebrations. I also enjoy playing the drums because I feel music is a big part of my life. I aspire to become a veterinarian when I graduate high school because I have a passion for animals. I have received numerous awards from my parish as well as JROTC.  I have grown and shown horticulture projects for the past 2 years for Mercedes FFA. I am excited to be honored as the chaplain for my FFA chapter this year and I will use my faith and knowledge to guide me through this journey.
